The MLK Community Center provides food assistance and nutritional education to anyone in need throughout Newport County. Our Breakfast Program, the only daily meal site in Newport County, provides a nutritious meal for seniors, families, and residents to begin their day. It is open daily from 7:30-8:30 am at the Edwards Street entrance. The Feed a Friend Food Pantry, open from 10am – 2pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and from 4;00-6:30 on Wednesday evenings. provides non-perishable food items, frozen meat, fresh produce, bread and household and personal care items once a month to our Newport County neighbors. Groceries, produce, bread and household products are delivered monthly to anyone who does not have the means or mobility to come to a food pantry through Food 2 Friends.
PLEASE NOTE: The Center is closed for the Holidays and end of year inventory from Saturday December 24, 2016 through Monday, January 2, 2017. The Center will reopen on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. The first day of Food Pantry operations in 2017 will be Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
