We are a true community center, and take pride in offering a home to many activities and groups that make a difference in Newport. We are home to a daily Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, the Newport Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force, weekly meetings for the Recycled Teenagers, a local older adults group, plus a local chiropractor, Dr. Ron Marsh comes weekly to provide free care for the uninsured.

Because of the challenges facing low-income families and children in our community, we work towards the following three goals:
To provide safe, affordable child care of consistently high quality.
To assist children in establishing trusting, supportive relationships with peers and adults.
To serve as an active liasion and advocate between school, community and home.
- State Licensed Day Care, an affordable preschool program for children ages 3-5, preparing all children for school readiness. Our staff was asked to join the state’s standards development team for Early Childhood Education Standards, and is teaching others how they do it.
- Before and After School Care, affordable child care for children in grades K-5, providing a wide range of literacy and math skill development activities, plus homework help, art, music, dance, and science workshops, and plenty of exposure to community resources.
- The Teen Center, a source for homework help, tutoring and mentoring, and educational, social and recreational activities including college planning and career development activities, college tours, cultural activities, field trips and guest speakers. Featuring two computer labs and a game room, the Teen Center serves middle schoolers from 2:00PM-6:00PM weekdays and high school students from 6:00PM-9:00PM weekdays and 7:00PM-midnight on weekends.
