1. We serve all of Newport County, primarily Newport and have been operating for 87 years, incorporated in 1922 as the Newport Community Center.
2. We embody the true meaning of a community center and serve people of all ages, races and demographics. The Center has always been dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming place for ALL members of the community
3. Our Pre school is certified as a “Center of Excellence” by the federal Early Reading First Initiative – one of the first 60 in the country to be so recognized!
4. Our Teen Center has a high school graduation rate of 100 % for those who attend once a week or more and a college enrollment rate of 90 %.
5. In 2008, our food programs provided 76,068 meals to individuals and families - that’s like inviting everyone in Jamestown, Little Compton, Middletown, Newport, Portsmouth and 1/3 of Tiverton over for dinner!
