MLK Community Center Program Information
AARP Tax Prep: Call the Center to make an appointment for help preparing your taxes! (Tax Prep is not currently being offered due to COVID-19 health & safety concerns.)
Community Art Class: Join local artist Mandy Howe as she leads multi-session community art projects that combine work from both adults and youth in the community. Projects will include art quilts and painted tile displays, among many others. (Community Art Class is not currently being held due to COVID-19 health & safety concerns.)
Education Family Dinner: This dinner is open to all family members of the kids in our pre-school and afterschool programs. Pre-Registration required. (Education dinners are currently not being held due to COVID-19 health & safety concerns.)
LivFit: A healthy cooking/nutrition lesson lead by dietitian Kristin Neissink, MS, RD, LDN. Learn a new recipe and take your creation home! (LivFit is not currently being offered due to COVID-19 health & safety concerns.)
Lunch & Learn: Open to all older adults, this lunchtime lecture features talks from a variety of speakers that change monthly. Pre-Registration is required. (Lunch & Learns are not currently being offered due to COVID-19 health & safety concerns.)
MLK Friends Dinner: Bring your friends and family members to the Center for a fun-filled evening with dinner, music, and socialization! Pre-Registration required. (Friends Dinners are not currently being held due to COVID-19 health & safety concerns.)
Nutrition Counseling: Dietitian Kristen Niessink, MS, RD, LDN can talk about your dietary needs, how to eat better, or how to lose weight through changes in diet. Whatever your concern with food might be, Kristen can help! Call her at 401-368-7614.

Food 2 Friends: Pantry delivery service for the homebound and hungry. Please contact Nancy Harten or Ed Crowley at 401-846-4828.
Daily Bread: Stop by either entrance of the MLK (Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd. & Edward St.) to check out the assorted bread and baked goods available daily – no registration required! Available first come, first served from 10am to 4pm every day.
Breakfast Program: From 7:30am to 8:30am enjoy a free breakfast. Options vary but typically include cereals, oatmeal, coffee, tea and bagels.
Preschool: This licensed educational program is open from 6:45am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Afterschool: Throughout the school year, kids are served a nutritious meal, followed by homework help and fun activities. DHS Childcare Assistance accepted! (Not offered during the summertime or due to COVID-19.)
Summer Camp: Summer Camp at the MLK is an 8-week literacy, science and math-based program for children entering 1st grade through those entering 5th grade. DHS accepted!
