TOMORROW: It’s go-time for 401Gives
“I can’t imagine where I’d be if it wasn’t for the MLK…you guys saved my life.” –– Jane*, after her first visit to the Food Pantry here at the Center. Woah. Hearing that at the Food Pantry from one of our clients really hits home, doesn’t it? By giving to the MLK’s 401Gives campaign tomorrow, you’ll not only support clients in need like Jane*, but also thousands of others across Newport County who need support from the MLK to survive. Whether it be through the Food Pantry, Education or Community Programming at the
MLK, our community needs your help and it needs it now.
Two generous friends of the MLK are putting up $25,000 to inspire YOU to give on Friday, April 1st, the statewide day of giving, Last year’s hugely successful #401Gives matching opportunities were met really quickly. We know some of you are early risers and some of you have commitments during the day. So, we’re spreading our match across three time slots, to make it easy to get your generosity matched. What does that mean? On Friday, April 1st, give to #401Gives on your schedule:
- Starting at 6:00 am: GIVE and your gift is eligible for $25,000 in matching funds and another ,$10,000 in MLK matching funds.
- Starting at Noon: GIVE and your gift is eligible for $25,000 in matching funds and another ,$10,000 in MLK matching funds.
- Starting at 4:01 pm (get it?): GIVE and your gift is eligible for $20,000 in matching funds and another $5,000 in MLK matching funds.
TOMORROW, Friday, April 1st, please visit our 401Gives donation page and give to support people in Newport County. For a hundred years, the MLK has been a community resource. Families and seniors look to the Center for life-changing necessities like healthy food, wellness programs and high-quality, affordable childcare. 401Gives is a day of online giving to celebrate community generosity across Rhode Island. 401Gives is a day to make your gift count for nonprofits that mean the most to you. Any high achievers out there can set up a personal fundraiser page under their own name that will benefit the MLK, so if you like creating some healthy competition amongst your friends, family and neighbors, then this is the perfect opportunity to do so while raising funds for a great cause! (Click “Fundraise” in the yellow bar on the top of our page.) In other words, in your social media posts and texts to friends about 401Gives on the day-of, you can link to your personal fundraising page to raise money for the Center, but it will all fall under your account so you can track how much money you have personally generated. *Name changed to protect anonymity.

MAÑANA: Es hora de ir a 401Gives

Guau. Escuchar eso en la despensa de alimentos de uno de nuestros clientes realmente llega a casa, ¿no es así?
Al dar a la MLK’s 401Gives campaign mañana, no solo apoyará a clientes necesitados como Jane*, sino también a miles de personas más en todo el condado de Newport que necesitan el apoyo de MLK para sobrevivir.
Ya sea a través de la despensa de alimentos, la educación o la programación comunitaria en el
MLK, nuestra comunidad necesita su ayuda y la necesita ahora.
Dos generosos amigos de MLK están aportando $25,000 para inspirarte a TÍ a donar el viernes 1 de abril, el día estatal de donaciones.
