Middletown Rotary's Hunger Challenge đź‘€

Above: Middletown Rotarians Deanna Conheeny and Pat Burke (wearing the coveted lottery ticket hat!) smile with MLK Director of Development Alyson Novick and MLK Executive Director Heather Hole Strout at last year's Rotary BBQ.

Last year, the Middletown Rotary Club's 10th-annual BBQ Dinner raised an awe-inspiring $26,000 for the MLK's Hunger Services. Of course, we can't come together to share a meal this year, but our friends at Rotary are still hoping to put food on plates across Newport County through the Middletown Rotary Hunger Challenge. A group of Middletown Rotarians have committed to donating $7,000 to the MLK… if an additional $7,000 or more is raised by other Rotarians and community members first. This is a quick challenge: the Rotary's campaign ends Tuesday, February 16th. Want to contribute to the Middletown Rotary Challenge? Your donation fights food insecurity in our community, from our on-site food pantry, to our Mobile Food Pantry, to our Food to Friends pantry delivery to homebound seniors, daily Breakfast, Grab 'n Go meals and more. Donate here, but be sure to select "Middletown Rotary Hunger Challenge" from the Optional dropdown menu so your donation counts toward the goal!

It's no secret: Newporters (well, New Englanders in general, for that matter) love their fish & chips. This year, there's even more of a reason to love them: these incredible local businesses have agreed to give back to the MLK with each order of fish & chips sold.

O'Brien's Pub was the first to start, offering 10% of all fish & chips sales donated to the Center throughout the month of February. Midtown Oyster Bar, the Atlantic Grille, and Fieldstones Grille have also agreed to pitch in 10% of their fish & chip sales -- and the Fitzpatrick Team and the Tavern on Broadway have agreed to match O'Brien's donation amount! What's more, Breakwater Surf Co. is offering a 25% discount on a full-priced item to anyone who shows a receipt from a participating restaurant. This promotion is month-long!

We don't know about you, but fish & chips are sounding like February's go-to...
