This is it! Final chance to register for the Keeper of the Dream & Annual Meeting

UPDATES FROM THE MLK COMMUNITY CENTER Friday, October 22, 2021

Keep your eyes peeled around Newport! L.E.A.D. spreads a hidden message of love and acceptance through hand-painted rocks

You know what we could all use some more of? A healthy dose of positivity. Thanks to the wonderful kids in our L.E.A.D. group at the Center, these hand-painted rocks were marked with positive messages and hidden throughout Newport. (Hint: check out the areas around Thompson Middle School, the Paramount building on Broadway, and the park off Bridge street. Shown here before being hidden, each of these rocks (and some are also shells, how cool is that?) carry a small note which we all hope will brighten your day if you come across one. To make things even more fun, if you find one of these tokens, post it to our Facebook page. Hide the rock again for someone else to find or keep it for yourself....it's up to you! (click here for the Center's Facebook page!) Have fun and happy findings!

FOOD PANTRY FEATURE: Latinx Foods

To meet the needs of our Latinx families, the Center's food pantry continues to be stocked with diversified produce including cassava, taro, tomatillo, jalapeño and papaya. These nutritiously diverse foods can be used in a wide variety of nutritious recipes and dinners for your family. In addition to stocking the food pantry with this diversified produce, we would like to kindly highlight some shelf-stable items that we are in need of at the center:

–– Tortillas –– Sofrito –– Masa –– Chiles –– Sazon Seasoning Mix (Con Azafran) –– Caldo de Tomate –– Adobo All-Purpose Seasoning Donations for the food pantry are pivotal to our operation and we greatly appreciate each and every one we receive! Throughout the month of October and beyond, we ask for contributions of Latinx foods, like those shown above for distribution in our food pantry programs.

(click here for the Center's Facebook page!) ¡Diviértete y felices hallazgos!

Únase a nosotros (virtualmente) el 25 de octubre para el Keeper of the Dream & Annual Meeting a través de Zoom
